3,4,5-Trifluorobenzoic acid radical ion (TFA) is an organic solvent that is soluble in water. It has a high boiling point and a low vapor pressure. TFA also interacts with hydrogen peroxide to form hydrogen chloride and chloride ions. The frequency of the TFA molecule is found at 3.2 ppm in the infrared spectrum. Crystal x-ray diffraction data show that TFA has a molecular structure consisting of a linear chain of three benzene rings with one fluorine atom attached to each ring. FTIR spectroscopy indicates that the carboxylic acid molecules are present on one end of the molecule, while peroxide groups are found on the other end.
