2,3,5,6-Tetrafluoro-4-methylbenzenethiol is a stable chemical that reacts with strong acids to form the corresponding fluorides. It can be hydrolyzed in the presence of water and thiophenols to form 2,3,5,6-tetrafluoro-4-methylbenzene sulfinic acid and hydrogen fluoride. The hydrolysis reaction can be catalyzed by either heat or a base such as NaOH. This chemical also reacts with thiobenzoic acid in dichloromethane to form 2-thiophenecarboxylic acid and hydrogen fluoride.
