Description:

6-Trifluoromethyl-Quinazoline-2,4-Diamine is a synthetic antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis. It binds to the 23S rRNA of mycobacterial ribosomes, preventing the formation of peptide bonds. 6-Trifluoromethyl-Quinazoline-2,4-Diamine is active against Mycobacterium smegmatis and Mycobacterium tuberculosis, but not against other bacteria such as Escherichia coli or Pseudomonas aeruginosa. In vitro studies have shown that 6TFQDA has a good sensitivity profile and is effective against drug resistant strains of M. tuberculosis and M. smegmatis.
