Product Information
- Lithium Tetrakis(Pentafluorophenyl)Borate(1-)
Tetrakis(pentafluorophenyl)-borate lithium (1:1) is a cocatalyst that is used for the dehydrogenation of ethylene to produce hexane. Tetrakis(pentafluorophenyl)-borate lithium (1:1) is a ligand that coordinates with magnesium oxide to form an ionic complex. It has been shown to activate the dehydrogenation of ethylene by providing chloride ions. The reaction mechanism of this process involves coordination of the magnesium ion with the borate ion, which leads to activation of the ethylene molecule and facilitates its conversion into hexane. Tetrakis(pentafluorophenyl)-borate lithium (1:1) coordinates with magnesium in a trigonal bipyramidal geometry, and has been shown to be more reactive than other borate cocatalysts such as tetrakis(perfluoroethyl)borate potassium (2:1).
