Product Information
2,2,2-Trifluoro-1-(1-methyl-1H-pyrrol-2-yl)ethanone is a chloromethylating agent used for the synthesis of paraformaldehyde. It reacts with hydrogen chloride to produce 2,2,2-trifluoroethanol and 2,2,2-trichloroethanol. This compound is an intermediate in the synthesis of pyrrole and pyrroles. It can be produced from chloromethylation of ketones or esters with paraformaldehyde at high yield. The electron withdrawing group on the trifluoromethyl group makes it a good catalyst for reactions involving chloride.
