Product Information
4,6,7-Trichloro-2-(trifluoromethyl)-1H-benzimidazole (4TCB) is a herbicide that inhibits plant growth by inhibiting ATPase activity in chloroplasts. This inhibition leads to the accumulation of ADP and AMP, which inhibit the synthesis of glucose from carbon dioxide and water. 4TCB also has a hydrolytic activity that degrades phenazines such as phenazine methosulfate (PM). PM is a photosynthesis inhibitor that binds to chlorophyll molecules and prevents their conversion into chlorophylls.
4TCB has been shown to be effective against Spinacia oleracea (spinach) and chlorpropham resistant strains of Escherichia coli.
