Product Information
4-[3-(Trifluoromethyl)-3H-diazirin-3-yl]-D-phenylalanine (4F3D) is a cell signaling molecule that has been shown to be an analog of epidermal growth factor. 4F3D has been shown to interact with mammalian cells, and its effects depend on the type of cell and cellular environment. 4F3D binds to the extracellular domain of epidermal growth factor receptor, thereby activating the epidermal growth factor signaling pathway. This binding activates protein synthesis by increasing the levels of intracellular proteins, such as ribosomal subunits and endoplasmic reticulum proteins. 4F3D may also have a role in regulating growth factor production by interacting with other subunits and inhibiting protein transport from the endoplasmic reticulum to the Golgi apparatus.
