Product Information
Trifluridine is an anti-inflammatory drug that inhibits the production of tumour necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and serum enzymes, such as dismutase activity, in mice with lung cancer. It has been used clinically to treat patients with various diseases including chronic inflammatory conditions, asthma, and rheumatoid arthritis. Trifluridine has been shown to inhibit the production of TNF-α in human fetal bovine cells in vitro. It also has a toxic effect on respiratory system cells, which may be due to its ability to induce apoptosis.
Trifluridine is a potent inhibitor of TNF-α and other cytokines by binding to TNF receptor 1 (TNFR1). This binding prevents the formation of an enzyme complex with the TNFR1 that is required for cell division.
