Tin(II) tetrafluoroborate is used as a de-ionizing agent in the manufacture of de-ionized water and can be used to rechargeable batteries. Tin(II) tetrafluoroborate has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria and enzymes. Tin(II) tetrafluoroborate also inhibits lead levels, which may be due to its ability to bind with lead ions.
