Description

3-(Trifluoromethyl)-2,5-furandione is a synthetic compound that has been shown to have anticancer activity against cell lines of lung cancer and myeloma. It is synthesized from anthracene in high yield with copolymerization. 3-(Trifluoromethyl)-2,5-furandione is reactive and can be used as a reagent for the synthesis of heterocycles. This compound was also shown to have tumor cell line inhibitory effects in microchips by binding to silicone. 3-(Trifluoromethyl)-2,5-furandione binds to DNA by covalent adduction, which inhibits the expression of genes involved in tumorigenesis, leading to cancer cell death.
