Product Information
- (R,S)-3,3,3-Trifluoro-2-hydroxypropionic acid
3,3,3-Trifluorolactic acid is a model system for the study of metabolic reactions. It is an intermediate in the conversion of pyruvic acid to lactic acid and has been used to study the metabolism of human urine samples. This acid can be synthesized from hydrochloric acid and trifluoroacetic acid by adding an amide group to the β-amino acid. 3,3,3-Trifluorolactic acid is also found in humans and has been shown to be toxic at high doses.
