Description:

Uridine-5'-(tetrahydrogen triphosphate) sodium salt (1:4) is a noncompetitive inhibitor that binds to the enzyme phosphodiesterase and blocks the production of cGMP. The drug has been shown to be effective in women with immunodeficiency, who have spontaneous abortions. It also has been shown to reduce the incidence of abortion in pregnant Sprague-Dawley rats, which were treated during their pregnancies with uridine. Uridine-5'-(tetrahydrogen triphosphate) sodium salt (1:4) is not active against bacteria. This drug has shown some activity in humans with AIDS, although it is not very potent.
