Description:

Undecane is a bicyclic heterocycle with nitrogen atoms that is used as an antimicrobial agent. It binds to the surface of microorganisms and inhibits their growth. Undecane also has been shown to have a significant effect on chronic arthritis in mice, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α and IL-1β. Undecane can be used in phase transition temperature tests and optical sensors. In addition, it has been shown to bind strongly to odorant binding sites, which may give it potential use in treating infectious diseases.
