Description:
3-Undecylthiophene is a chemical with properties that are ideal for sensing natural gas. It has been shown to be sensitive to the presence of chloride ions and can be used as an optical sensor for this ion. 3-Undecylthiophene has also been shown to be able to bind biotin, which is a protein found in many living organisms. The binding of biotin changes the fluorescence response of the molecule, which can then be detected using a transduction system. 3-Undecylthiophene has been shown to have vibrational properties that can be utilized in positioning strategies and as a sensor for sulfide.
