N-(4-Phenylboronic)succinamic acid is a boronic acid that functions as a fluorescent probe. It interacts with the hydrophobic regions of proteins and changes their fluorescence properties. N-(4-Phenylboronic)succinamic acid has been shown to bind to the hydrophobic regions of proteins such as cytochrome P450, glycolate oxidase, and carbonic anhydrase. This probe can be used for imaging nanotubes in the body. The quantum yield for this compound is 0.8 when excited at 350 nm and 400 nm, which is higher than most other probes currently available on the market.
