Product Information
Salermide is a sirtuin inhibitor that has been shown to have potent cytotoxic activity in vitro and in vivo. Salermide inhibits the cellular metabolism of acetyl-CoA to produce energy, which leads to apoptosis. Salermide also inhibits the synthesis of proteins by binding to polymerase chain reaction (PCR) primers and blocking DNA replication. Salermide also has antimicrobial properties, as it is able to inhibit growth of bacterial species such as Staphylococcus aureus. In addition, salermide induces autophagy and mitotic arrest in cancer cells. This agent binds to peptides with an amino acid sequence that is similar to the amino acid sequence found in SIRT1 and SIRT2.
