Product Information
Vicenin III is a chemical compound that has been shown to have hepatoprotective and anti-inflammatory properties. It is a prenylated flavonoid, which is synthesized from 3,4-dihydroxyphenylalanine (DOPA) by the enzyme phenylalanine ammonia-lyase (PAL). The synthesis of vicenin III requires four enzymes: PAL, alliinase, alliin reductase and an NADPH cofactor. It also has been found to have antioxidative properties. Vicenin III has been shown to be effective in the treatment of hepatitis C virus infection in mice.
