L-Valine Hydrochloride is a white crystalline powder that is soluble in water and insoluble in hexane. It is an amino acid, which functions as a proteinogenic amino acid. L-Valine Hydrochloride has been shown to be an effective inhibitor of the enzyme catalysis of l-threonine by protonating the hydroxyl group, thereby preventing the formation of a cavity. L-Valine Hydrochloride also has been used to stabilize reaction solutions by creating hydrogen bonds with chloride ions, which are necessary for the formation of dihedral angles. The molecule has two functional groups: a carboxylic acid (-COOH) and an amine (-NH2). These functional groups give it the ability to form intermolecular hydrogen bonds or hydrogen bond with other molecules. L-Valine Hydrochloride's structural formula is C4H7ClN2O2.
