Description:

4-Vinylbenzylamine is a chemical compound that has the molecular formula C8H11NO2. It is a colorless liquid with a boiling point of 170°C. 4-Vinylbenzylamine can be synthesized from acetaldehyde and benzyl chloride, although it can also be obtained from wheat germ or glycopolymers such as chondroitin sulfate. The compound is used in the synthesis of microcapsules as well as in the development of other types of drug delivery systems. 4-Vinylbenzylamine has been shown to have an effect on epidermal growth factor, which stimulates the production of cells in the epidermis and aids in wound healing. This effect may be due to its binding to epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR).
