2-Vinyl-1H-Imidazole
Synonyms:
  • 1H-imidazole, 2-ethenyl-
Description:

2-Vinyl-1H-imidazole is a chemical compound that is made up of an aromatic hydrocarbon and a fatty acid. It can be used as a solid catalyst to promote the reaction between hydroxyl groups and inorganic acids, or to crosslink polymers. 2-Vinyl-1H-imidazole has been shown to have antitumour activity. In vitro tests have shown that 2-vinyl imidazole has the ability to reduce glucose levels in the blood, which may be due to its ability to form hydrogen bonds with glucose molecules.
2-Vinyl imidazole also has proven use in wastewater treatment. This chemical compound is able to break down organic compounds by forming intramolecular hydrogen bonds with them, thereby preventing them from being released into the environment.
