Description:

Vinyl butyrate is a solid phase microextraction (SPME) sorbent with the properties of extracting volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from air and other media. It has been shown to be reactive with fatty acids, which are often found in bacteria. Vinyl butyrate has an optimum concentration of 2.5% and a hydroxyl group that can act as an oxidation catalyst for VOCs. The enzyme form of vinyl butyrate is acyl chain-specific lipolytic enzymes. This type of enzyme is used to break down fats or lipids by hydrolysis, converting them into glycerol and fatty acids. Vinyl butyrate has also been shown to have kinetic and polyvinyl properties.
