Valine ethyl ester, hydrochloride is an antileukemia agent that belongs to the phosphazene family. Valine ethyl ester, hydrochloride inhibits the growth of bacteria by inhibiting the production of eosinophil peroxidase and hydrogen peroxide. It also has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties. Valine ethyl ester, hydrochloride is a β-amino acid with an amide group and a carbonyl group. The molecule has an intramolecular hydrogen bond between the carboxylic acid group and the amino group of valine. This molecule is aromatic because it contains a benzene ring with a double bond between two carbon atoms. The valine ethyl ester, hydrochloride molecule also contains an insulin resistance activity that may be related to its ability to inhibit protein synthesis in certain cells, such as skeletal muscle cells.
