Product Information
- (R)-4-Cyano-4-(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)-5-methylhexanoic acid(R)-gamma-Cyano-3,4-dimethoxy-gamma-(1-methylethyl)-benzenebutanoic acid
(R)-(+)-Verapamilic acid is an intermediate in the synthesis of verapamil. It is a chiral molecule that can exist as two enantiomers, R-verapamil and S-verapamil. This compound is a chemoselective agent for the protection of heteroaromatic compounds from nucleophilic attack. The (R)-enantiomer has been shown to be a more potent inhibitor of calcium channels than the S-enantiomer. Derivatives of (R)-(+)-Verapamilic acid include: (-)-N-(4-chlorophenyl)pyridinium chloride, (-)-N-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)pyridinium chloride, and (+/-) N-(phenylmethyl)pyridinium chloride.
