Description:
Valerian extract is a plant extract that has been used for centuries to treat anxiety, insomnia, and epilepsy. Valerian extract contains the chemical compound gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), which is a major inhibitory neurotransmitter in the mammalian central nervous system. This plant extract may have a depressant effect on locomotor activity and an anticonvulsant effect. It also has been shown to have similar effects as benzodiazepine binding sites, which are receptors found in the brain.
