Vinyl Perfluorooctanoate is a crystalline material that is synthesized by the polymerization of vinyl chloride and perfluorooctanoic acid. It is used as a coating for devices, such as intravenous catheters, as well as for drug molecules to improve their stability. Vinyl Perfluorooctanoate has an average particle diameter of about 200 nm, which can be reduced by grinding or milling. The high viscosity of this material makes it suitable for use in applications requiring low energy efficiency, such as inorganic coatings. Vinyl Perfluorooctanoate can also be used with gel permeation chromatography to separate different drugs and drug molecules with different molecular weights. Diffraction analysis can be performed on the particles to determine their size and shape.
