Windaus ketone is a vitamin D3 analog that has been found to be effective in the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease. It has been shown to inhibit bowel inflammation and induce the production of morphogenetic protein, which regulates cell differentiation and tissue development. Windaus ketone also inhibits skin cancer by preventing the oxidation of ethylidene, an intermediate metabolite in the production of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. This drug also has hypogonadism-inducing effects on animals and may have anti-inflammatory properties due to its ability to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis.
