WZ 4002 is a tyrosine kinase inhibitor that blocks the activity of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) by binding to its active site. It has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of cancer cells in vitro and in vivo. WZ 4002 inhibits the activation of EGFR, which is essential for cell proliferation and survival, by blocking phosphorylation at specific tyrosine residues. The compound inhibits wild-type EGFR but not mutant forms with amino acid substitutions in the kinase domain. This drug also inhibits deoxycytidine kinase, an enzyme involved in DNA synthesis, which may contribute to its anti-cancer effects.
