Product Information
3-Amino-5-bromo-1-benzofuran-2-carboxylic acid, also known as CGP57148B, is a pyrimidine analogue that is a potent inhibitor of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) replication. It has been shown to be effective in vitro against HIV strains that are resistant to other anti-HIV drugs. The drug prevents the synthesis of viral DNA by inhibiting the HIV reverse transcriptase and DNA polymerase. 3-Amino-5-bromo-1-benzofuran-2-carboxylic acid is also an inhibitor of the enzyme anthranilate synthase, which converts anthranilic acid into isoquinolines. This drug has been shown to be active against methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus and Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
