Xylidine is a chemical compound that belongs to the group of aromatic amines and has been used as a solvent, dye, and pharmaceutical intermediate. It is found in wastewater effluents and can be used for the treatment of wastewater. Xylidine undergoes electrochemical oxidation at the surface to form an electron-transfer complex with sephadex g-100. This process results in increased resistance to the enzyme activity of cytochrome P450 and decreased substrate molecule binding.
Xylidine has shown high resistance to microorganisms and can be used for wastewater treatment with sodium carbonate as a buffer solution. Xylidine has also been shown to inhibit liver cells from producing proteins related to drug metabolism by forming intermolecular hydrogen bonds with cytochrome p450 enzyme groups.
