Zinc laurate is a zinc salt of a fatty acid. It is a light-emitting material that emits in the near-infrared region, with a peak wavelength of 740 nm. Zinc laurate has been shown to have antimicrobial activity against Gram-positive bacteria and fungi when used as a substrate film. It also shows strong bactericidal activity against Gram-negative bacteria. In addition, zinc laurate is capable of forming films that can be used as an anti-fouling agent for surfaces in water vapor environments.
