Zinc chlorothiophenolate is a metal salt that contains the functional groups of carboxylate, divalent, and activating. It is used as an activating agent for organic reactions, such as desulfurization and phosphoric acid activation. Zinc chlorothiophenolate can also be used to produce calcium carbonate from limestone by reacting with phosphoric acids and sulfonic acids. Zinc chlorothiophenolate has been shown to be useful in the treatment of strains of bacteria that are resistant to other agents. It may also be used as a peroxide-forming catalyst in organic synthesis reactions.
