Zirconocene chlorides are a class of pyrimidine nucleosides that have been synthesized and studied. The synthesis of these compounds is achieved by the reaction of aniline with chlorocarbonyl dichloride, followed by the addition of potassium chloride. Zirconocene chlorides are potent cytotoxins, which may be due to their ability to react with primary amines and form reactive intermediates that can attack cellular macromolecules. These compounds also show strong binding affinity for zirconium and chlorine.
