Zinc di[bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide] is a metalorganic compound that can be prepared by the reaction of magnesium with chlorotrifluoromethane. It is a chiral, hypervalent molecule that undergoes modulating reactions and has been shown to form an adduct with magnesium. This compound has a high yield and can be used in filtration and as an electrochemical method for the preparation of covalent bonds. Zinc di[bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide] can also be used to cleave bonds in organic molecules and has been shown to have antimicrobial activity against staphylococcus, clostridium, mycobacterium, and erythromycin-resistant bacteria.
