Salicylamidoxime is a compound that contains the functionalities of a metal ion and a carboxylate. It is synthesized by reacting salicylhydroxamic acid with hydrogen peroxide in the presence of a metal ion, such as iron or copper, to form an intramolecular hydrogen bond. Salicylamidoxime is used as an oxidation catalyst for organic reactions, such as the conversion of benzoic acid to benzoate. This compound also has transport properties, which are due to its chloride ions.
