Product Information
N-(5-Hexynyl)phthalimide is a molecule that can be used as an electron donor in the fabrication of gold nanoparticles. The ethylene diamine reacts with the phthalimide to produce a monolayer of molecules on a silicon substrate. This process is then followed by irradiation with ultraviolet light, which creates free radicals. These free radicals react with the ethylene diamine to produce ethylene and formaldehyde, which then react with the phthalimide to create a second layer of molecules. The liquid phase method has been shown to be effective for immobilizing streptavidin onto gold nanoparticles, due to its high surface area and hydrophobic nature.
