Product Information
1,4-Dimethoxyanthraquinone is an antibiotic that belongs to the class of unsymmetrical protonated quinones. It can be synthesized using a number of synthetic methods including the reductive elimination of 1,2-dibromoethane or by the carbonyl group oxidation of biphenyl. This compound has been shown to exhibit potent antrodia camphorata activity against Gram-positive bacteria and may be useful in treating infections caused by these bacteria. The redox potential of 1,4-dimethoxyanthraquinone is significantly higher than that of adriamycin, which may contribute to its stronger antibacterial properties.
