Product Information
Methyl 4-benzoylbenzoate is a photoinitiator that absorbs in the UVA range. It is used to initiate polymerization of methyl methacrylate and other polymers, such as acrylates, styrene, vinyl acetate, and ethylene vinyl acetate copolymers. Methyl 4-benzoylbenzoate has been shown to be an irreversible inhibitor of rat brain MAO-A which is a reversible type of monoamine oxidase enzyme. The irreversible inhibition by methyl 4-benzoylbenzoate may be due to its ability to form covalent bonds with MAO-A.
