Product Information
Oxirane-2-ylmethyl methanesulfonate is an inorganic acid that belongs to the class of phenyl sulfonates. It has shown chemokine receptor activity and polymerized properties, which are both due to its benzyl groups. This compound can be produced using a number of synthetic methods including alkylation with benzaldehyde and ethylene oxide, followed by reaction with methanesulfonyl chloride. The hydroxy group on this molecule can be replaced by an amide group, or a carboxylic acid group, which would change the nature of its activity. Oxirane-2-ylmethyl methanesulfonate is used as a reagent for the synthesis of serotonin.
