2-Chloro-3-(4-methylpiperazin-1-yl)-1,4-dihydronaphthalene-1,4-dione is a tricyclic compound that has potent anti-inflammatory and antibacterial activity. It is active against Gram positive bacteria such as Trichophyton and Staphylococcus aureus. 2-Chloro-3-(4-methylpiperazin-1-yl)-1,4-dihydronaphthalene-1,4-dione inhibits the growth of fungi by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol in the fungal cell membrane. The drug also suppresses inflammation by blocking the production of prostaglandins and leukotrienes.
