4-Chloro-2,5-dimethoxyaniline (4CMA) is a synthetic organic compound that can be used in the synthesis of dyes and pharmaceuticals. This compound is synthesized by reacting ammonium nitrate with 4-chloro-2,5-dimethoxybenzene in the presence of sodium formate. The reaction takes place in an organic solvent such as xylene or sulfoxide. The product is then reacted with methyl alcohol and alkylation agent such as hydrogen chloride to produce the desired product.
