Bis(3,5-di-tert-butylphen-4-ol) disulfide is a catalytic agent that is used to produce high yields of tetramethylthiuram disulfide. This compound is produced by the oxidation of bis(3,5-di-tert-butylphen-4-ol) disulfide with sulfur and amines. Bis(3,5-di-tert-butylphen -4-ol) disulfide reacts with tetramethylthiuram monochloride to produce tetramethylthiuram disulfide. Tetramethylthiuram disulfide can be used as a crosslinking agent in the production of polymers.
