6,7-Dichloroquinoline-5,8-dione is a molecule that has a coordination geometry of octahedral. It is an organometallic compound that has been shown to inhibit the enzyme kinase-3β. 6,7-Dichloroquinoline-5,8-dione also inhibits the production of proinflammatory cytokines in liver cells and prevents the formation of reactive oxygen species in mitochondria by blocking an electron transfer chain. 6,7-Dichloroquinoline-5,8-dione was also found to inhibit tumor growth in xenograft models and to have antiangiogenic properties. Mechanistic studies on this drug are ongoing.
