Product Information
3,3-Bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)-2-phenylisoindolin-1-one (BPII) is a monomer that is used in the production of polycarbonates. This monomer has been shown to have good chemical stability and an activation energy of about 8.5 kcal/mole. BPII has a molecular weight of 206.3 g/mol and a melting point of 161°C. BPII has been shown to be soluble in amide solvents such as dimethylformamide, which can be used to dissolve it in order to produce polycarbonates and other materials with high molecular weights. BPII is also soluble in acid catalysts such as hydrochloric acid, which can be used for polymerization reactions. It is insoluble in hydroxide solutions such as sodium hydroxide solution, and uptake values are low when exposed to proton solutions such as sodium hydroxide solution.
