Product Information
- Benzeneacetonitrile, Alpha,Alpha-Diphenyl-
Triphenylmethyl cyanide is a colorless, flammable liquid that is soluble in most organic solvents. It has been used as a gas sensor for amines and radiation energy. Triphenylmethyl cyanide can be used to measure the concentration of hydrogen ions in solution by measuring the steady-state fluorescence. This chemical can also be used as a colorant for animal tissues. It reacts with glycosidic bonds and dehydrates them into alcohols, which subsequently undergo bond cleavage reactions. The homologues of triphenylmethyl cyanide are biphenyl and phenylacetic acid.
