3-Methyl-3H-imidazo[4,5-b]pyridine is a nitro compound that is used in the synthesis of imidazopyridines. This molecule has been shown to function as a tumor promoter and an inhibitor of DNA synthesis. 3-Methyl-3H-imidazo[4,5-b]pyridine can be protonated at pH values greater than 8 and quaternized with alkyl halides at temperatures below 0°C. It has been shown to yield high yields with amide formation and functional theory. 3-Methyl-3H-imidazo[4,5-b]pyridine can be synthesized via experiments or surrogates.
