Product Information

Name:
Prop-2-en-1-yl methanesulfonate
Description:

Prop-2-en-1-yl Methanesulfonate (PMS) is a synthetic compound that has been used as an intermediate in the synthesis of Taxol, a drug used to treat cancer. It also has potential for use in the treatment of autoimmune diseases and infectious diseases. PMS has been shown to have reactive properties, which may be due to its aldehyde groups. It reacts with thrombin receptor, factor receptor and hydroxyl group, which are proteins on the surface of cells that can bind to other molecules. PMS is also able to inhibit the activity of erythromycin derivatives by binding to their ribosomes. The kinetic data obtained from this study showed that PMS is a potent inhibitor of protein synthesis in bacteria and mammalian cells.
