Product Information
3-(Aminocarbonyl)-1,2,2-trimethylcyclopentanecarboxylic acid is a diagnostic agent that is used to measure renal function and diagnose renal tubular disorders. It is a free radical generator that reacts with thiobarbituric acid to form a red dye called thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS). TBARS are measured using optical imaging and the level of TBARS can be used to determine the rate of glomerular filtration. The methyl alcohol in 3-(aminocarbonyl)-1,2,2-trimethylcyclopentanecarboxylic acid reacts with ethylene diamine and microcapsules to form methyl ethyl aminocarbonyl benzoate or picolinic acid. These compounds react with thioglycollate and thiourea to produce an acid complex which can be detected by color change or fluorescence.
