Product Information
4-Octylcyclohexanone is a colorless liquid with an unpleasant, sweet odor. It is soluble in organic solvents and insoluble in water. It is used as a solvent for dyes, resins, gums, waxes and other organic substances. 4-Octylcyclohexanone is also used as a raw material in the manufacture of cyclohexene derivatives. The reaction solution may be catalyzed by magnesium or hydrochloric acid to yield a mixture of two or three different chiral cyclohexene compounds. 4-Octylcyclohexanone can be reacted with phenylcyclohexene to form Grignard reagent or tetrahydrofuran, which can then be used to produce various phenol derivatives.
