Product Information
Diethyl (hydroxyimino)malonate is a synthetic compound with anticancer activity. It is synthesized by reacting ethyl formate with malonic acid in the presence of nitrous acid, followed by hydrolysis and decarboxylation. This reaction produces diethyl (hydroxyimino)malonate and ethyl formate as byproducts. Diethyl (hydroxyimino)malonate has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of tumor cell growth in human serum, but it does not inhibit the growth of normal cells. Diethyl (hydroxyimino)malonate is more stable than other anticancer agents because it does not react with water or oxygen at room temperature. This compound is also used for the synthesis of d-glucose, which is an important precursor for pharmaceuticals and other chemicals.
