Description:

Sodium carbonate is a chemical compound that is used as a pH buffer and as an ingredient in detergents. It has been shown to react with 2,2,4-Trimethyl-1,3-pentanediol Diisobutyrate-d14, which is a chemical used for the extraction of fatty acids from wastewater. The reaction creates sodium molybdate and hydrogen gas. Sodium carbonate also reacts with polyvinyl acetate and disulfide bonds in the presence of air to form formaldehyde gas. Sodium carbonate has been shown to have various effects on animals, including locomotor activity (elevated) and serum acetylcholine levels (elevated).
